Mentorship Program 4/10/19

by Jessica Wong

On April 10th, Women in Business hosted its spring semester Mentorship Program in Wyatt Rotunda. The event featured 36 Nashville businesswomen across a variety of fields, including consulting, healthcare, and finance, with whom student mentees had the opportunity to connect with one-on-one. Students are matched with two different businesswomen based on career and professional development interests. The Mentorship Program aims to foster relationships between local businesswomen and Vanderbilt students that last beyond the conclusion of the semiannual event, helping create a network in the business community.

Freshman Jessica Kaplan, a member of Team WIB’s External Relations committee and Mentorship Program participant, reflected on the success of this semester’s event.

“The program went really well this semester,” Kaplan said. “We had a lot of applications from students to participate, and many returning mentors. Having participated in the Mentorship Program I know how great an opportunity it is to connect with someone in the industry, so I’m glad so many people are interested in participating.”

Over 50 students were selected to participate in the program.

“Even if someone wasn’t chosen for this semester’s event, I hope that they’ll apply again next time,” Kaplan said. “The Mentorship Program is such a cool opportunity, and our mentors are constantly changing.”

Thank you to Capital One for sponsoring this year’s Mentorship Program event!
